sorry, we don’t want you
Yesterday I was headed home from the hospital in Lancaster and I saw a banner hung on the side of a building in Manheim that said, “No transitional housing for inmates in Manheim”. That phrase made my blood boil over.
I did a little research and found out that people came out in droves in a recent council meeting against the transitional house. Now I don’t know all of the details, but I do know that this is a growing problem in communities.
Now I understand that communities want their families protected so do I. I know the stigma that surrounds convicts, I get that.
But I also know the other side of the fence. I know the frustration of the guys who have gone to jail. It seems like society never wants to give them a second chance and that repulses me. Yes, the crime has been committed, yes, justice must be served. But these guys need hope, love and redemption. I love going to jail to minister to these guys. I love having them come to the Gospel Center once they get out. I want as many as possible to come to the Gospel Center, because I want them to catch a glimpse of the transforming power of Jesus Christ,
Manheim, please be part of the solution, not part of the problem.

I thank God everyday for what he has done for me. To have a friend like you and other’s that were willing to give me that 2nd chance. There are so many guys looking to get out of prison for there 1st offence or it may be there 10th.
But when God says enough is enough we still need the love of others to help us on our way. I was blessed with so many people praying for me and helping me.
Other are not as lucky, and trust me not all people in prison are as bad as you may think. Some are there falsely and our courts here of late are proving that with D.N.A.
I ask everyone to Pray about things before you act on them. Is this realy what God would do? Am I acting in his love? In prison guys put it this way, W.W.J.D. What Would Jesus Do.
Think before you act and then pray before you act, see what Jesus has planed for you.
More and more familys now days have a family member in Jail and yours could be next. How would your views change if it where your Son or Daughter coming out of Jail and they tell them you can’t get out because you have no place to go…
Well stated, Ed. I think if those families did have a family member in jail, they would be taking a different stance.
