On this date, February 22, 1901, Charles and Lettie Cowman arrived in Japan where they became co-founders of the Oriental Mission Society. Lettie, also known as L.B. Cowman, was a writer and author of the devotional books Streams in the Desert and Springs in the Valley. She published her books under the author name Mrs. Charles E. Cowman.
One of my favorite quotes from Springs in the Valley is this:
“The hour is desperately dark; your flame is needed.”
