On this date, April 11, 1836, George Müller opened his orphanage in Bristol, in two rented houses. The life and ministry Müller of has always challenged me. His complete dependence on God and his willingness to minister to the “least” of the society is inspiring.
According to Roger Steer in his biography on Müller, George Muller: Delighted in God writes that many times, he received unsolicited food donations to feed the orphans only hours before they were needed to feed them. On once occasion, they gave thanks for breakfast when all the children were sitting at the table, even though there was nothing to eat in the house. As they finished praying, the baker knocked on the door with sufficient fresh bread to feed everyone, and the milkman gave them plenty of fresh milk because his cart broke down in front of the orphanage.
