On this date, April 14, 1759, George Frideric Handel died in London. Handel was a composer of oratorios and concertos. His most famous one is The Messiah which was first performed in Dublin in 1742.

His music still inspires countless individuals even though he has been gone for more than 250 years. He is buried in Westminster Abbey.
