On this date, May 6, 1746, William Tennent died. William Tennent was the founder of the Log College. The Log College was simply a religious “seminary” that was operated in a log cabin. Some historians credit Princeton University as being the successor of the Log College.
William was famous for filling his students with evangelistic zeal and is credited with several of his students becoming preachers in the movement that is known as the Great Awakening.
