On this date, May 10,1508, Michelangelo begins painting the Sistine Chapel. He didn’t desire to do it, but Pope Julius II insisted. It became one his masterpieces, taking over four years to complete.

As a child, I was captivated by the building and ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and checked out many books from the library about it. The creation scenes are the ones that most capture my attention. I anxiously await the day to visit it in person.
