On this date, June 9, 1911, Carrie Nation died.
Until this past year, I didn’t know about her. But I picked up a little biography of her and read it with fascination. She was married to an alcoholic who ended up dying because of his addiction. She was so angry at the files of alcohol, that she became a temperance leader and begin to physically destroy saloons, believing that God had told her to do so. Because of her, the prohibition movement was energized.
