On this date, September 4, 1666, the Great Fire of London destroyed the old St. Paul’s Cathedral. The Great Fire consumed over 13,000 houses, 87 churches including St. Paul’s Cathedral. St. Paul’s was the fourth church on that location. Construction on this building began in 1087 and was completed in  1314, including additions.
